Robert Blennerhassett was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Biography

Robert was born in 1652. He was the second son of Arthur Blennerhassett of Ballycarty Castle, County Kerry, and Mary FitzGerald (daughter of the Reverend Gerald FitzGerald, Archdeacon of Emly and Annabella Rice).

He entered Trinity College, Dublin, aged 15, and matriculated from the University of Dublin on 22 May 1667[1], and was called to the Bar.

He had a house at Dublin, but lived at Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.

He married widow Alice Osborne (daughter of Sir Thomas Osborne, 5th Bt.).

They had the following children:

Mary (married Thomas Squire)
Alice
Elizabeth (married Eugene O'Lavery in 1729, with issue)
Arthur (b. 1687, d. 1758)

Robert was Member of Parliament for Clonmel in 1692 and 1695, and Limerick in 1703, and then Prime Sarjeant. He held the office of Recorder and Burgess of Clonmel. He was Seneschal of County Tipperary in 1705.

He died in about 1712. His will was proven (by probate) in 1713.
