Biography

Benjamin Blonk was baptised in Sheffield, Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul on 20 April 1747, he was the son of William Blonk, a scissorsmith and Phoebe Verdon [1]

The list of Apprentices for Sheffield has the entry: [2]

BLONK Benjamin, son of William, apprenticed to father, scissorsmith, Freedom 1768.

Once Benjamin became a cutler, he took on apprentices of his own

Thomas Homfray was apprenticed to Benjamin Blonk, scissorsmith, 1774 [3]

When his father passed away in 1778, Benjamin was the executor and residual legatee [4]

Benjamin passed away in Sheffield on 16 January 1813 and was buried on 22 January, in Sheffield, St Paul, Pinstone Street [5]. The register showed that by then Benjamin had become a merchant.

Benjamin's will was dated 4 December 1812, and was proved on 14 October 1813 [6]
