Best known as the voice of the Chiquita Banana. Appeared on the first episode of The Ed Sullivan Show, produced by her brother Marlo Lewis. From 1950 to the 1980s she was a familiar actress in TV shows and films.
Monica was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, was supportive of the Motion Picture and Television Fund, was a regular parishioner of the Temple Israel of Hollywood, had been supportive of the California State Democratic Committee, was a chairwoman for her local charters of the American Red Cross and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, was a vocal instructor for the Pasadena Playhouse, had been recognized as a 1952 Deb Star, served as vice-president for Music Heals, and was briefly courted by the actor, who later became both politician and president, Ronald Reagan.
Monica was born (as Mae Bloom) in 1922 in Chicago. She was the daughter of composer Abe Leon Bloom (known professionally as Leon Lewis) and opera singer Jessie Lewis (not to be confused with the contemporary film actress of the same name). Mae, daughter of Leon Bloom & Jeone Lewis, was born on 5 May 1922 in Cook, Illinois, United States.[1]

In 1945 she married Herbert Robert "Bob" Thiele. They divorced 2 years later having had no children.
Monica (age 28), daughter of Leon Lewis & Missouri Jesse Lewis, married Jennings Bently Lang (age 40) on 1 January 1956 in Los Angeles, California, United States.[4] They had one son, screenwriter/producer-director Rocky Lang. Monica was also a stepmother to Jennings' two sons, one of whom was jazz pianist/Hollywood session musician Mike Lang.
She passed away in 2015 and was buried at Desert Memorial Park, Cathedral City, Riverside County, California.
