John Blunden was probably born in about 1805 (or earlier), in Ireland. He was the eldest son of Trevor Lloyd Blunden, Esq. of Oakfield, county Tipperary and Rebecca Andrews.
He married Emily Harriet Alley (the daughter of Reverend Henry Alley, of county Tipperary, Ireland) on 29 May 1822 at Gretna Green, Scotland (having previously married in Ireland)[1].
The following notice was printed in The Dumfries Weekly Journal (1822) Birth, Marriage and Death Notices - Transcribed by Diana Henry and Robert Wells, 4 June 1822:
"At Gretna Green, having been previously married in Ireland, John Blunden, Esq. eldest son to Trevor Lloyd Blunden, Esq. of Oakfield, in the county of Tipperary, Ireland, to Emily Harriet, eldest daughter to the late Rev. Henry Alley, also of Ireland."[2]
