Tönnies Bockholt was born about 1614 in Wallenhorst parish, Amt Iburg, Fürstbistum Osnabrück, Heiliges Römisches Reich.[1]


In 1664, the 50-year-old married Tönnies Bockholt was listed as suitable for service in the Conscription der Mannschaft Wallenhorst, a register of the Wallenhorst militia.[1]. He was working as a shepherd on the Gößlich zu Sübern farm in Pye, Wallenhorst parish.[1] The following people were working on Vollerbenhof Gößling and residing in various buildings of the farm:[1]

  • Gößlich zu Sübern (age 30, married; the farm operator),
  • brother Jürgen (age 23, unmarried, the brother of the farm operator),
  • farmhand Johan (age 17, unmarried),
  • shepherd Tönnies Bockholt (age 50, married; himself).
