Joannes Bohus, son of Maria Krajtsÿ and Joannes Bohus, was born on about February 18, 1851 in Tiszolcz, today Tisovec, Slovakia.[1] His father was employed as a charcoal burner at the time and his family lived in the Officina neighbourhood of Tiszolcz.[1] He was baptized on February 19, 1851 by Josephus Szloszártsik, parish priest of the Roman Catholic Church in Tiszolcz.[1] Michael Luszyaÿ and Aloysia Kraitsÿ were appointed as his godparents.[1]
Joannes was 26, a miner, and living with his family in Officina house #322 when he married Julianna Czjanik, 18, on September 9, 1877 in Tiszolcz.[2] Julianna was living with her family in Officina house #92 at the time.[2] She was the daughter of Samuel Czjanik, a clothier (or worker in the cloth trade), and his wife, Julianna (Drngats).[2] The marriage was witnessed by Andreas Gromer and Michael Gottlieb, both iron mold-makers.[2] The couple began their marriage living in Officina house #92, with Julianna's family.[2]
Joannes and Julianna had a son, Joannes, on February 25, 1879.[3] He died young on September 3, 1879.[3][4] They had another son, Ludovicus on December 14, 1880, who also died young, on July 21, 1881.[5][6] By the time of his death, they were living in Officina house #109.[6]
Joannes and Julianna had a daughter, Carolina, on June 30, 1882.[7][8] By the time they had their daughter Jolana, on July 23, 1884, Joannes had become a nightwatchman.[9] When they had their daughter Maria, on November 18, 1886, they were living in the Vasgyár (iron foundry) neighbourhood of Tiszolcz, in house #111.[10]
