Biography

John Borden was born about 1640. He was the son of Richard Borden and Jane (Fowle) Borden.

John was prominent in the public affairs of the town. He was deputy in 1673, 1680, 1700, 1704, 1705, and 1708. [1]

He married Mary Earle, daughter of William Earle and Mary Walker, on December 25, 1670.[1]

Together, they were the parents of Richard Borden, John Borden Jr, Amey (Borden) Chase, Joseph Borden, Thomas Borden, Mary (Borden) Potts, Hope (Borden) Almy, William Borden, and Benjamin Borden. He died June 4, 1716[2]

I think that the family who originated in France spelled it Bordon but with out digging for the reference I can't say for sure. I have the two vol. set of Little Compton Families by Benjamin Franklin Wilbour that I recently purchased. The Borden Family can be found in Vol. One.

Does the little Compton family volume mention anything about Borden village ,England?I am interested in what John Borden accomplished .

Why do you have Bordon as the preferred spelling when it is Borden for the parents, children, spouse, etc....
