Biography
Philip Slater Boult was born on 03 Apr 1799 at Shoreditch, Middlesex (now Cripplegate, London), the son of James and Mariana Boult; [1] and was baptised at St. Leonard parish. [2]
He does not appear to have ever married, and resided in 1851 at Hackney with his sister Louisa and her daughter. [3]
Philip passed away in 1865 and his death was registered in the second quarter of that year at Hampstead, London. [4] He was buried on 01 Jul 1865 at Brompton Cemetery in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Greater London, England. [5]
According to family historian Jef Fall, Philip Slater Boult was named for the elder brother of his grandmother Elizabeth (Slater) Fall; but less is known about him than about his three younger siblings. He was a lifelong bachelor and clerk with the Bank of England; he supported his sister Louisa during and after her serious marital difficulties; and after he died, his sister Mariana wrote: [6]
"All his nephews and nieces have a most exalted opinion of his character. They consider him the most perfect human being they have ever known or shall know--so disinterested, kind, tender."
