Emily (Bovell) Sturge was born in London, Middlesex, England.
Emily Bovell was born on 21 February 1841 in London, the daughter of Sarah Louisa (née Jones) and John Roach Bovell (1803–1852)..[1][2]
She is notable for being one of the [Edinburgh Seven], the first seven women to be permitted to study medicine in Britain at Edinburgh University.
She moved to Paris, France to complete her medical training, and there met her husband William Allen Sturge MVO. The couple married at St Saviours church, Paddington, London on 27 September 1877.[3]
She died in Nice, France in 1885.
