If you have sources on ancestry that are not on wikitree, please add sources to wikitree. Many people do not maintain Ancestry subscriptions, so everyone cannot go to ancestry to see sources there.

Kathleen, you created this profile initially with birth date of 1701 and death of 1798, with marriage to Johannah. After the merge was proposed with the other profile that had similar information and same wife, you rejected it and you have changed this profile to have different dates and a wife of Huldah. This is why there is confusion with this profile. The birth date in the biography text is the original birth date, but you changed the birth date field to the earlier date, which doesn't seem to match with the one that married Johannah.

You have now 'conflated' this profile to be a mixture of the other Jabez Brown profiles. There are at least 2 different Jabez Bowen born in same location, but they married different people and had their children in different locations.. Since you are the PM of this profile, you need to decide which way you want this profile to be.

Find A Grave: Memorial #26814578 is Jabez Brown 1696-1770 married to Huldah Hunt, died in Rhode Island with linked children born 1718-1735.

It seems that whatever birth date and wife you want to use, there is another profile for it to be merged with.

• Jabez Bowen (1701-1770) married Johannah (Salisbury) Bowen (1702-abt.1775) in 1727, children born in Rehoboth.
• Jabez Bowen (1696-1770) married Hulda (Hunt) Bowen (1697-1754) in 1717, children born in Providence.

You have a linked child Jane, born 1747 in Rehoboth, which does not match up with the Jabez that had children with Huldah in Providence, Rhode Island from 1718 - 1735. It does match up with the Jabez that married Johannah and remained in Rehoboth where the rest of their children were born from 1731-1740 and this is how your profile was initially created and that is the mother linked to Jane's profile.

Therefore, I think that Huldah should be unlinked as a wife from this profile, change the date in the birth field back to 1701 and allow a merge to be completed with Jabez Bowen (1701-1770) which I will re-propose.

Yes, I created this profile and I admit that I changed the info after the merge was proposed. Not because I wished to avoid the merger, In fact whomever was actually married to Johannah is best for me in one direction of my tree since Jane is the conduit to the rest of my tree. But going the other direction changing the parents presents he same issue. I changed it to match info I had (but not looked at before this) so that I could either approve or reject the merger. The primary reason I rejected the merger is that the parents did not match what I knew of for Bowen-8898 even though it was not reflected in his profile. When I looked at that info I made what I thought were correct changes to match what I believed to be correct and therefore rejected the merger with Bowen-763 and proposed a merger with Bowen-4574. Please see the comment I made over on Bowen-763. I can live with either option and reached my limit of being able to untangle things. Sorry if I sound irritated but it seems that my correcting what I perceived as legitimate errors in the profile and is born out by the fact that Bowen-8898 was always intended to have Richard Bowen and Mary Mercy Titus as his parents. which Bowen-763 does not. Therefore the merger should not happen. It does seem that Joannah was probably married to the Jabez born in 1701 and not this one, so feel free to detach her.

If we unlink Johanna, then Jane should be linked and moved to Bowen-763 so she stays with where 'her mother' is and her siblings that were all born in Rehoboth. Bowen-763 does have different parents than this profile. There is an ancestry link on that profile for his birth vital records. I don't know if it has parents listed for the birth source, but since you have access to ancestry, you could check that link out.

I have added a link for the 2nd source for his birth. That starts on one page with the earlier children of Joseph and Elizabeth and continues to next page where it has Jabish, with his birth date, and the rest of his siblings, so that person is definitely connected with those parents and that birth date.

On the page where the earlier children of Joseph and Elizabeth were listed are the children of Richard and 'Mercy' Bowen, which includes Jabesh, b Oct 19 1696, so that proves that there are 2 separate individuals with different parents. I have added a link on Bowen-8898 for that birth source.

I have now updated Jabez Bowen-763 with 2 sources that link Joseph Bowen and Elizabeth Round to Jabez Bowen who married Joanna Salisbury. One source is from Bowen Family, one is from Round family, both refer to Rehoboth Vital Records as sources. so I am confident of the parents of Jabez that married Joanna Salisbury.

Joanna Salisbury and Jane (Bowen) Hix have been unlinked from Bowen-8898 and linked only to Bowen-763. Jane was born in Rehoboth where Jabez Bowen-8898 and Joanna Salisbury had children, so she is no longer connected to this profile.

This profile Bowen-8898 can now be merged with Bowen-4575 that has Richard Bowen and Mary Titus as parents. It has Huldah Hunt as spouse and children that were born in Providence.

Linda, I go crazy trying to understand how to type up adding sources so they look right. It's the main reason I'm not that active on Wikitree. I completely understand WHY you require sources but I suspect that lots of people avoid contributing because of that. Years ago I had my own website and did all the html coding and I know this is related and similar to that but I frankly don't have the time at the moment so my activity here has been limited to when something comes up and to using it as a research tool. I know what you mean about Ancestry links being useless if you don't have a subscription which is why I haven't listed them. When I get caught up on Ancestry (if I live that long) I will happily switch over here and dive in but that's not terribly likely in the near future.

There are many Jabez Bowen’s. May I disconnect Johanna Salisbury?

Johannah is connected to a different Jabez Bowen (1701-1770) .Both Jabez were born in Reboboth with similar dates, so they could be easily confused without ages or parents include. Marriage source with Joanna does not give their ages or parents.

Please see lengthy comment that I added to Bown-8898 profile. I think Johanna is the correct spouse, not Huldah, because of the child and because the information was originally the same.

If this Jabez Bowen is the Husband of Johanna Salisbury then the birthdate needs to be changed back, and merge I proposed should be completed.
