Biography

"Faro" Bowman was born in 1827 in Kentucky, when his father, John Farrar Bowman, was 37 and his mother, Martha "Patsy" Townsend, was 29. Faro married Julia Ann HENSLEY on February 18, 1850, in Trimble, Kentucky. They had six children in 11 years. From the 1850 and1860 census enumerations, plus his 1863 draft registration, it is clear that as an adult he worked as a cooper, usually residing near a river or waterway that was used to ship goods in barrels. He seems to have died about 1866 in Golconda, Illinois. None of his immediate family have been identified in the 1870 Federal Census, although Julia and the children have been identified in 1880 and later. In 1880 Julia seems to have remarried and is listed as July Bowman Foth. Julia was living in the household of son Hugh Mack Collie Bowman in both the 1880 and 1900 census enumerations.

Bowman-12439 and Bowman-12383 appear to represent the same person because: These appear to be the same man, and same line.
