Biography

Benjamin , s/o Benjamin & Phoebe Bowmer was born 9th march 1804 and baptized the 12th April at Belper & Heage Chapel in Duffield .

His daughter Mary's parish marriage record , 1860 , states her father Benjamin was a Farmer , and the newspaper article announcing her marriage states " Mary the only daughter of the late Benjamin Bowmer , Gent , of Ridgway , Heage "


He made a will on 9 February 1839 appointing

my Friend Samuel Travis of Belper in the County of Derby Gentleman my Brother George Bowmer of Coxbench in the said County Farmer and my Brother in law William Argile of Heage aforesaid Farmer Executors of this my Will And I appoint them and also my Wife during her Widowhood Guardians of my Children until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years and I give devise and bequeath all my real estate wheresoever situate and whether in possession reversion remainder or expectancy and also all my Personal Estate of what nature or kind soever unto my said Executors before named their heirs executors administrators and assigns until my son Isaac Bowmer shall attain the age of twenty five years upon trust that they my said Executors or the survivors or survivor of them or the heirs executors or administrators or assigns of such survivor....
pay unto my said wife Mary Bowmer during the term of her natural life one annuity or clear yearly sum of forty pounds.....
eight hundred pounds to my daughter Mary Bowmer on her attaining the age of twenty one years....
(if both children die estate to be divided) equally amongst my said Wife and my Brothers the said George Bowmer and John Bowmer and my Sisters Hannah Bowmer and Mary Wightman....

The will was proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury at London on 27 July 1839.[1]

He died aged 35 years at Bullbridge , on the 12th Feb 1839 and was buried 15th Feb 1839 at St Mary's Church in Crich , his burial record stating "Benjamin Bowmer , Gent".
