Jeremiah Bowser is a part of US Black heritage.

"Jeremiah was a fugitive slave that held many different jobs. He was imprisoned at 6th and Walnut St. Philadelphia Pa. at the request of his master from Maryland. The Quakers paid for his freedom and Jeremiah became a Orthodox Quaker Elder at the Uptown North Meeting House Key Alley (New Street)in Philadelphia PA. Jeremiah also owned and operated one of the first African American oyster cellar(s) in Philadelphia for 65 years and that his business entertained many of the city's and states distinguished citizens and guests."
