Maryann was born in 1848. She was the daughter of Hugh Boyle and Mary Meehan. She passed away in 1914.
Maryann was born on August 3rd 1848. She married John Synott and had six children - Hugh, Nell, Mick, Janet, Frank and Joe. In the early 1800s the Far North Coast of New South Wales was attracting many farmers, including families from the South Coast.
The Synotts selected 600 acre of land at Goolmangar, near Lismore and commence dairy farming. They donated 2 acres of their land for the Goolmangar Hall which was officially opened on Wednesday June 22 1906.
Maryann Synott christened the hall ‘The Goolamangar Schol of Arts’ by breaking a bottle of whiskey. A all was held that evening and 100 couples danced until daylight to the music of the piano, violin and cornet.
Maryann died aged 66, and was buried in the Barahm Street cemetery in Lismore on May 28 1914. John was buried on March 24 1912, aged 74.[1]
