Marmaduke is listed in several census documents as being born in Indiana. However, in the 1879 census he is shown living in Sherman, Crawford Kansas at 8 years old with his parents and several siblings.[1]
By the 1880 census he is living with his parents and younger siblings in Sulpher Springs, Benton, Arkansas at 18 years old working on the farm and mill. [2]
There is a marriage record that indicates he received his marriage license from Benton County Arkansas 15 May 1889 to marry Minnie Hughes with their actual marriage date 19 May 1889[3]
He continued to live on the farm in Sulpher Springs until he died. His death certificate confirms the names of his parents listed in the census documents. His death certificate is also signed by his wife Minnie Brackney. [4]
His tombstone is in Forest Park Cemetery, Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri.[5]
Note: His birth location is listed on Find A Grave as Brazil, Clay County, Indiana. However, I have not found documentation to back this up yet. It may be a recollection from one of his children, or found in documentation related to his parents or grandparents.
