Biography

Mary was born about 1804 in Virginia. She was the daughter of John Bradford and Johanna Shrout. She passed away after 1860.

Mary was the 11th and last child of John and Hannah Shrout. She married Jesse Soey or Sooy in Muskingum, Ohio on 14 May, 1825.

The 1820 US Federal census of Highland, Muskingum, Ohio lists John Bradford with a total of 9 persons living in the home. "All members of the Bradford family were accounted for in the 1820 census." Quoted from the Russell R. Bradford family history. Mary would have been about 16.

In the 1850 census, Mary and husband Jesse Soey are living in Iowa with five children. In the 1860 census, Mary is living in Marion, Missouri with daughter Rebecca and her husband, John Frank. She is listed as "Mary Bradford". Also living with them is her son Abraham (Abram) Soey, age 22.
