Biography

Julius was born in 1861 in Poland to Edward and Justine (Jesse) Braitenbach. He married Elizabeth Teske in Russia between 1879-1891. In 1908, they immigrated to Canada and then went on to Jansen SK where their son, Julius, was already homesteading. With Martin were his wife Elizabeth and children: Helen, Johann; Karl, Olga, Pauline and Wilhelm. They actually had twelve children, all born in Russia. The first three were daughters and they died in infancy. A son, Theodore, died in Russia at age 21. They farmed NW of Jansen. Julius Martin passed away in 1932 and was buried in Esk Lutheran Cemetery.
