Caleb Brander was born free about 1811. He emigrated from Virginia to Liberia with a Charles Brander (36), likely his father, and a Jacob Brander (50), very likely his grandfather. He was a passenger on the Brig Nautilus. Sadly he died of a fever either on board the ship or shortly after their arrival on March 8, 1821. He is described as being able to spell.
