Biography

Peter was born in 1759. He was the son of William Johnson and Molly Brant. He passed away in 1777. He was sent to Montreal and Philadelphia for his education, and his tutors reported his good behavior and his fiddle playing. [1][2] Peter was named as his natural son in Sir William Johnson's will. He was left money and land.[3] During the Revolution, he was an Loyalist officer first with the Indian Department[4] and later an Ensign in the British 26th Regiment, at the time of his death.[5] He was credited with the capture of Ethan Allen at the battle of Longue-Pointe, near Montreal on September 25, 1775.[6][7] His death is variously reported either by having shot himself or by disease, near Philadelphia.[8]
