William Bray was born in Cornwall, England.

William was born in 1828. He is the son of Cornelius Bray and Elizabeth Boundry.

He was Baptised on 8 June 1830 at the Holy Trinity Church, St Austell, Cornwall, England.

On 6 June 1841 the Bray family lived in Charlestown Port, St Austell, Cornwall. Elizabeth Bray (45) charwoman with children Cornelius Bray (14), William Bray (12), John Bray (8) & James Bray (6). [1]

On 12 September 1853 William Bray enlisted with the Royal Navy, Service Number 2718. He first served on HMS Philomel. He served on HMS Cygnet, HMS Sans Pareil and HMS Impregnable. [2] [3]

William Bray married Sarah Terlizzick in 1856 in Stoke Damerel, Devon, England. [4]

On 7 April 1861 William Bray (34) born in St Austell, Cornwall and married, was a Captain of Main Tap with the Royal Navy on the vessel HMS Firebrand (a wooden paddle frigate) in Carthagina near Granada South America. [5]

On 3 April 1881 William Bray (53) born at St Austell, Pensioner - Steam ..?.., Devon born wife Sarah Bray (50) with Devon born children Edwin G. Bray (19) Printer's Apprentice (Composition), Eliza Bray (13), Henry J. Bray (11) and Kent born Clarinda Bray (7) lived at 35 Russell Street, Minster in Sheppey, Kent, England. [6]

On 5 April 1891 widower William Bray (62) Returned Seaman with daughters Louisa Bray (22) and Clara Bray (17) lived in Chapel House, Sheerness, Minster, Kent, England. [7]
