Edwin Lindeman Breitmeyer was born on 12 October 1882 in Banks Peninsula, Canterbury, New Zealand, son of Johanna Georg Breitmeyer (1838–1909) and Elizabeth Brown (1845–1938).
Edwin (27) married Mabel May Joblin (25) (born on 1 February 1884 in Little River, Banks Peninsula) on 13 January 1910 in Banks Peninsula. Their known children were:
