In 1847 she married James McGowan in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer from Gransha, Islandmagee and she was also from Gransha. The witnesses were S D Stuart Cunningham and William Lindsey.[1]

In 1901 Mary is living alone in Gransha, Islandmagee and is described as a 75 year old housekeeper and widow, having been born in Islandmagee, County Antrim.[2]

She passed away in 1903, aged 78, in Bellahill, Templecorran, County Antrim from decay of nature. She is described as the widow of a farmer. Her death is registered by her daughter Mary Connor of Bellahill who was present at the death.[3] Mary is buried in the family plot in St John's Church of Ireland Graveyard, Islandmagee.
