Biography

Richard Brewer was born about August 12, 1857 in New Brunswick. He was a son of Benjamin Brewer and Hannah (Pugh) Brewer.[1]

In the 1861 census Richard (age 4) was living with his father Benjamin Brewer (age 33, farmer), mother Jane (age 29), and siblings: Jemima (8), Hannah (6), Samuel D (3), Ada (6 months), in Douglas, York, New Brunswick, Canada.[2]

In the 1871 census Richard (age 14) was living with his father Benjamin (age 44), mother Jane (age 38), and siblings: Jemima (18), Hannnah M (16), Samuel D (13), Ada (11), Harriet (8), Hubert (7), Frederick (4), and Asa (7 months), in Douglas, York, New Brunswick, Canada.[3]

He married Melissa Mary Grant, a daughter of William Grant and Elizabeth (Giberson) Grant.

In the 1881 census Richard (age 25), Labourer, was living with his wife Melissa (age 27), and two children, in Gordon, Victoria, New Brunswick, Canada.[4]

In the 1931 census Richard (age 73, widowed) was living in the household of his grandson George Giberson (age 27), in Gordon, Victoria, New Brunswick, Canada. George was the son of his daughter Gertrude (age 50), and she was also living there.[5]

Richard passed away on February 28, 1933 in Arthurette of Influenza at the age of 74 and was interred there at the Arthurette United Baptist Cemetery.[6][1][7]
