- 1776 Rosters of Soldiers and Sailors: 1st Lieutenant Jedediah Briggs, of Berkley, served with Captain James Nicolls' 8th Company, 2nd Bristol County Regiment. List of officers of Massachusetts Militia; commissioned April 26, 1776; also Captain james Durfee's Company, Colonel Thomas Carpenter's Regiment; raised from Brigadier General Godfrey's Brigade; list of officers of Massachusetts militia dated Taunton; appointed agreeable to resolve of September 12, 1776; also Captain Nickols' Company, Colonel Edward Pope's Bristol County Regiment; marched to Rhode Island on the alarm of December 16, 1776; service, 22 dyas. roll includes travel to camp at Warren and home again.[2]
