Birth

Adam was born on 12 Aug 1787 in Burke County, GA to Isaac Brinson and Elizabeth "Betsy" Wilson.[1][2]

Marriage

He and Elizabeth Murphree Brinson were married on 9 Jul 1811 by Isaac Wimberly, Esq.[3]

Religion

On 14 Nov 1830, he was appointed a trustee of Big Buckhead Baptist Church in Burke County, GA, along with James H. T. Kilpatrick, Henry Gilstrap, James Shepherd, and Stiring Brinson.[4]

  • 9 Jun 1842 – Screven County, GA – Adam Brinson, Sr. of Scriven County to his dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Brinson, for natural love and affection, a 750-acre tract of land which he now lives on, one enslaved woman named Kay about 35 years old, one enslaved boy named George about 10 years old, five cows and calves, one good gildeng and one good broode mare, two hundred bushels of corn, three stacks of fodder, one half of his household and kitchen furniture that is not already given off, one cotton gin, one set blacksmith tools, two hundred dollars in cash, thirty head good stock of hogs, two good ploughs, two sets of plantation gear, two good axes, and two good weeding hoes, during the term of her natural life; also, three enslaved people named Crease, Justin, and Shadreack will continue with his wife and be divided among her children at her death, agreeable to the will of "old farther Murphee," also gives to his wife during her widowhood all the land that is not already given, with the exception of what his two sons Jason and John have in cultivation, the following enslaved people: Cuffie, Lannon, Jim, China, Robert, Will, Peter, Jack, Pleasant, Lewis, Andrew, all his stock of horses and mules, all his stock of cattle not already given off, his stock of hogs and sheep, all his corn and fodder then on hand, one half of his household and kitchen furniture, and all on the premises not that is not already given off. Death & Burial

Adam died on 29 Sep 1852[22] in Screven County, GA, where he was buried in Brinson Cemetery, a small family cemetery located on his former plantation. It is now located just outside of Millen in Jenkins County, GA.[23]
