Research Notes

David may have been born in Connecticut, and may be the same person as Bronson-132. The FamilySearch tree that identifies this David as the son of Matthew Bronson/Brownson cites this source:[5] The Barbour Collection gives the parents' names as Matthew and Mary.[6] This David has been said to have married a Canfield but no record has been found.

In 1860 a David Bronson b Indiana 1806 and wife Elizabeth b Indiana 1807 are living with presumed son David J. Bronson b 1843 in Indiana.[7]

In the 1870 Census, White River Township, Gibson, Indiana, residing in the family of A J and Mary Henning, is Eliza Brunson, age 66, b New York. Eliza is the same person as the Elizabeth Buchson age 75 living with the family in the 1880 Census and listed as mother-in-law. In that census her birthplace is listed as Canada. Elizabeth was the widow of David Bronson. Possibly she was the unknown Canfield that David married. David was born in Connecticut? and possibly Elizabeth was also?

A David Bronson, aged 20-30, was living with a male aged 60 to 70 and a female aged 20-30 in 1830 in Wayne, Butler, Ohio.[8]

A David Bronson, single head of household aged 20-30, was living in Fayette County, Ohio in 1840.[9]

This David fits the profile better: 1840 Census, Calloway County, Kentucky. David Brunson one male aged 5-10, one male aged 10-15, one male aged 40-50, one female aged 10-15, one female aged 20-30, one female aged 30-40.[10] But this David is not the one as he's still living in Calloway County in 1850.
