Biography

Albert was born on May 19, 1897 in Sawyerville, Québec. He was the 5th of 14 children of Charles Georges Brouilllette and Olympe Varin. He was baptized 2 days later at Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire church in Sayerville, Québec. [1]

WW1 (1914-1918):
He enrolled in the Canadian Army at age 21 years 1 month on January 9, 1918 at St-John's. He was assigned to the CETD (Canadian Engineers Training Depot?) in England from June 11 1918 to July 3 1919. His rank was DRIVER. He worked one month in Canada and 10 months in England. Once the war ended he was discharged after the demobilization of his troop and he returned to Mansonville. [2]

On May 3, 1921 at age 24 he married Iris Bailey, age 25 at St-Cajétan church in Mansonville Québec.[3]

They had 5 daughters:

Elizabeth (Brouillette) Johnson (1922-1999)
Jeanne (Brouillette) Robidas (1926-2019)
Louise (Brouillette) Duckless (1929-2012)
Barbara Brouillette (1931-2021)
Hélène (Brouillette) St-Hilaire

WW2 (1939 to 1947):
He also served in the Army in World War 2 but his file will not be available to the public until 2047.

Profession : Barber, Electrician, Soldier ww1 and ww2[4]
He would always say, when his grand-children were around : "Children should be seen but not heard". I don't recall him ever talking to me or even touching me.[5]

Albert passed away at age 77 on November 1st, 1974 at Queen Mary Veterans Hospital in Montréal, Québec. His burial ceremony was carried out at St-Cajétan church in Mansonville 3 days later[6].
He is buried along with his wife Iris in the St-Cajetan cemetery to the left of his parents' tombstone (Charles and Olympe).[5]
