Bennett "Bennie" was the son of Richard Brown and Maurine Holcomb. Bennett was likely named after one of his father's brothers and also his dad's paternal grandfather, Bennett William Brown (I?). Bennett graduated 1st in his class of 47 as a Radioman Class A at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland on May 23rd, 1958. He began his service on the U.S.S. Ault and remained there for the duration of his service time. He was honorably released from active duty and placed on reserve at the end of his term of active service on December 9th, 1960, after completing just over 2 years of service. Bennie wrote many letters home to his mom during his time overseas, sometimes discussing various ports they'd visited but mostly his plans for his return home after his service term ended, included buying a car and stereo. Bennett died unexpectedly in 1962 due to a car accident, sometime after returning from his service in the Navy.
