Biography

William Brown was born in about 1833 in Bodenham, Wiltshire, England.

William Brown married Charlotte Wort in 1859. The marriage was registered in Alberbury, Wiltshire in the third quarter of the year.[1]

William and Charlotte had thirteen children:

In 1861 William Brown (age 28, Farm Labourer) lived at Odstock Street in Odstock, Wiltshire with his wife Charolette (20, Labourers Wife) and daughter Mary Ann (1).[2]

In 1871 William Brown (age 37, Agricultural Labourer) lived in Salisbury St Martin, Wiltshire with his wife Charlotte (30, Laundress) and four children: Mary A (11), Charles (9), Emily S (7), and Alice L (5).[3]

In 1881 William Brown (age 48, Farm Labr) lived at Queens Pl in New Sarum St Martin with his wife "Elizabeth" [Charlotte] (40, Laundress) and four children: Charles (19, General Porter), Alice (15), Ellen (8, Scholar), and Eliza (1).[4]

In 1891 William Brown (age 58, Agricultural Labourer) lived at Exeter Street in St Martin with his wife Charlotte (50, Laundress) and three children: Eliza (11, Scholar), Gertrude (9, Scholar), and Edward (6, Scholar).[5]

In 1901 William Brown (age 68, Farm Labourer) lived in Salisbury St Martin with his wife Charlotte (60), son Edward (16, Bricklayers Labourer), daughter Eliza (21, Laundress), niece Ethel Brown (8), and two boarders: George Brown (42, Haulier) and George Parsons (18, Green Grocers Porter).[6]

In 1911 William Brown (age 28[78], Too Old To Work) lived in Salisbury with his wife Charlotte (70), son Edward (27, Bricklayer Labourer), and boarder Joseph Kiddle (54, Farm Labourer).[7]

William's wife Charlotte Brown passed away in 1912.

William Brown passed away in 1919, aged 87 years. His death was registered in Salisbury in the last quarter of the year.[8]
