Biography

Abner was born about 1803 in South Carolina. Per Randolph County, Alabama Heritage book his father was also named Abner. His father came to America from Galway in Ireland about 1790. From that same reference this Abner Brown settled later near an Indian Reservation in the Pendleton DIstrict of South Carolina. He had two sons, Elijah and Abner.

Abner B. Brown was married to Rebecca McGill about 1830. He was living in Anderson District, South Carolina in 1840 and 1850. He moved his family to Chambers County, Alabama in the Northern Division, Post Office Hickory Flat, by 1860. Abner drove a team of mules to Alabama while his two sons each drove a team of oxen. According to his son, Abner J. Brown the family came down the Clement's Trail with his two old maid sisters.

Abner moved his family to Randolph County, Alabama in Roanoke and Township 21 by 1870. He was still living there in 1880.
