Biography

Joseph Brull has German Roots.
Volga German
Joseph Brull was a Volga German.

Joseph Brull born 1776, Ober-Monjou, Russia, died 1829, Ober-Monjou, Russia.

His parents: Johannes Brull (1737-bef 1798) and Maria Elisabetha Schmidt (1734- bef 1816)[1]

Joseph Brull and Maria Eva Konradi married about 1795, Ober-Monjou, Russia.

1798, household #12, Joseph Brull is 22, his wife Maria Eva Konradi is 22. They have two children: Anna Maria age 2 and Anton 6 months old. Joseph's widowed mother is living with them: Elisabeth Schmidt age 65.[2]

In 1816, Joseph Brull is 40, son Franz is 15, son Johannes is 6, the women and daughters weren't recorded on the 1816 census. Son, Anton wasn't listed on 1816 census, so probably died prior to 1816. His eldest daughter would have been 20, and likely married, and daughter Dorothea would have been 4 years old.[3]

On 1834 census, it is noted that Joseph Brull died in 1829. In 1834, his wife: Maria Eva is 58, and they have a daughter who is unmarried, Maria Anna Brull, age 15 (born 1819). Son Franz was 33 and married to Katharina Boes. Son Johannes was 24 and married to Barbara Ecksner. Daughter Dorothea was 22 and married to Johannes Philip Dreher [4]

Research Notes

Note: There isn't any baptismal with the name Dorothea Brull, but there is one with Catharina, with baptismal date of 25 August 1812, matching her birth month and birth year, so above assumption that Dorothea is the daughter of Joseph Brull and Maria Eva Konradi is based on the fact that they are the only Brull's having children during the 1812 time period in Obermonjou. There wasn't any other Brull couple having children during that time period. It was assumed that Johannes Brull (1791) was the father of Dorothea, but Kevin Rupp said that there didn't seem to be any indication that he had any children. Plus, the Russian Church Records dated from 1802-1812 had no record of a Johannes Brull born in 1791. The only other Brull having children was John Adam Brull, who died in 1810. [5]
