FORT WORTH — Norman Dean Brumbaugh, 90, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in Lincoln, Neb., while visiting his brother, Joe. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: A private service will be held. MEMORIALS: Boys Town, P.O. Box 6000, Boys Town, Neb. 68010 Norm was born in Avoca, Okla., on June 3, 1922, to Ira Brumbaugh and Fannie Brightman. He was the youngest of four brothers and had two younger sisters. Due to his mother’s early death, Norm was sent to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in Omaha, Neb. Upon graduation, Norm joined the Army Air Corps to serve his country, in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. After the war, Norm returned to Omaha to marry Charlotte Combs. Norm and Charlotte moved to Fort Worth in 1950. After working at Convair Aerospace and Meacham Field, Norm began his career with Collins Radio Company which later became Rock- well/Collins and then Boeing of North America. During his career, Norm traveled the world. He worked and lived in many countries, including Great Britain, Indonesia, Kuwait, Jordan, Australia, Vietnam and Thailand. Norm visited all 50 U.S. states, flew over the North Pole and once circumferenced the world. Norm was instrumental in developing a new communications system for President Johnson’s Air Force One. He was commended by President Nixon for his work with the Defense Department and shook hands with the likes of King Hussein of Jordan. Norm had a wonderful life and enjoyed his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and daughter, Paula Edith Brumbaugh. SURVIVORS: First wife, Charlotte; son, Frank Elliot; grandsons, Justin Ross and Chad Elliot; and many nieces and nephews.
