John was born in 1759. He was the son of Elijah Budd and Hannah Ursty. On 14 Apr 1875 he married "Laner" Bloomer. ^[1]

It's possible he fought in the American Revolution in Brinckerhoff's Regiment, New York Militia, but uncertain as this source ^[2] only gives the name John Budd and Dutchess County and no other identifying information.
