Impje (Immetje) Buijsman (1834-1906) was born on 5 September 1834 in Grootebroek to Cornelis Buijsman, a farmer, and Dinge Hoogedam.
On 27 April 1854 she married in Grootebroek to Jan van Slot, a farmer from nearby Bovenkarspel. They settled in her hometown and had six children: Johan, Diena, Diena Maria, Catharina Maria, Cornelis Anthonius and Johannes Marinus Josef. The next year they inherited land in Grootebroek and money of value 6235 guilders (about €60,000 today) from Cornelis.
On 27 February 1871 the left Grootebroek and went to live in Woerden. Exactly a year later they left to Tegelen, Limburg, and then on 15 March 1873 they emigrated to Rheydt in Germany. They returned on 3 July 1877 and moved to Amsterdam, at Gerard Doustraat 53. In August 1877 they moved to Goudbloemstraat 13. On 27 September 1878 they moved to Haarlemmermeer, and then on 31 October 1879 back to Bovenkarspel. Pieter died in April 1880 and was unemployed at the time of his death.
She continued to live in Bovenkarspel with her surviving children. The family appears to have been in financial trouble as Diena Maria became a servant and Johan a day labourer. Johan died in 1881 and her only surviving son Johannes Marinus Josef later also became a day labourer. On 30 April 1894 she left Bovenkarspel and went to live with him and his family at Grootebroek. She departed on 16 August 1897 and briefly lived and worked at the St Leonard’s convent in Oss, Noord-Brabant as a consignee before returning to Grootebroek on 16 March 1898. She lived out the remainder of her life with Diena Maria and her family before dying on 1 April 1906 in Grootebroek.
