Biography

Daniel was born about 1794 in Irthington, Cumberland, England to Christopher Bulman & Ann Forrester (or Foster). He came to New Brunswick in about 1813, about 19 yrs old.

Daniel married Abigail Williston, daughter of noted Empire Loyalist John Bailey Williston, in about 1824. They settled at Black Brook, near Chatham, where they farmed 200 acres and raised five children.

In 1855 they sold their land and moved to Bruce County, Ontario (Canada West) where they lived with their son Joseph and his family on their farm.

Daniel passed away sometime between 1871 and 1881.

text from Carman Williston book, 2002:

Notes for Daniel BULMAN:
A marriage was not located for Daniel and Abigail, ... However, they were without a doubt, married and raised their family at Loggieville then known as Black Brook, until moving to Ontario after their son Joseph made his move there in the mid 1850's
Danile was appointed as one of the Commissioners of Highways in 1848, a position that he held for several years.
Daniel's death was noted in a transcription from an Ontario newspaper to a NB paper and the name of the town was corrupted. however, he and Abigail were both living with Joseph's family in Amabel Township in Bruce County of Ontario in 1871 and neither of them were listed in the 1881 census.
Daniel and Abigail had a 200 acre property at Loggieville where they lived and farmed. They offered it for sale in 1855 with instructions that if it were not sold within about 2 weeks that John T Williston would be handling the sale in their stead. They also had another lot at Chatham Head which was previously sold. Their son Joseph had moved to Ontario and it appears that their destination was to be with them.
