Biography

VIRGIL W. BUNTING Services for former school teacher Virgil Bunting, 80, of Golden Gate, were held Saturdqy morning at Nale's Funeral home in Albion. Mr. Bunting died at 4:55 A.M. Wednesday, February 20, 1991 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. diagnosed in 1976 as having bladder cnacer, he ahd been relatively active until becoming ill again in December. Surviving are his wife Geraldine, one son, Charles and his wife Kay of Florissant, Missouri, three grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffery, and Keith Bunting. Mr. Bunting had been a school teacher for 36 years. he had taught at Golden Gate and other grade schools for eight years, then for the next 26 years until his retirement in 1969 was Industrial Arts Instructor at Edwards County High School. He had operated a wood shop at his home and produced trophies for various events in the shape of the State of Illinois. He was a graduate of Albion Community High School and Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, Illinois. Mr. Bunting was a member of the golden Gate United Methodist church. Born October 3, 1920 in Wayne County, his parents were Frank and Alice Hodgson Bunting. He was married in September, 1932 aat Golden Gate to Geraldine Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Martha Keyser; and four brothers Raymond, amos as a child, Henry, Thomas and William. Source: Albion Journal, February, 1991
