Biography

Charles was born in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire to Charles Fuller, a Butcher and Euphemia Miller. By 1851 Charles was living at Hill Place in St Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh with his parents and 2 brothers, Robert age 6 and James, age 3.

By 1861 there is no trace of the family living together but a 10 year old Charles Burnet can be found boarding at 376 Castle Street. Is this the same Charles?

By 188, Charles, a butcher to trade is married to Elizabeth Thomson and living with their 2 children Helen age 5 and Elizabeth age 1 at the home of Elizabeth's mother Helen Thomson at 14 East Arthur Street, Edinburgh. Elizabeth died 2 years later.

Charles subsequently married Isabella McKenzie the widow of William Boyce. By this time he was employed as a Clerk & Inquiry Agent. There were children from all three marriages and in 1891they were living at 32 East Preston St with 9 children.

By 1901the family had moved to 22 South Clerk Street and Charles was a Spirit Dealer's Assistant. 5 of the children from Isobella's first marriage and 4 children from their marriage were living with them.

By the end of July 1908 both Charles and Isabella were dead. Isabella died in Longmore hospital, the cause stated as Carcinoma Cervicis Uteri and Exhaustion. Her usual residence was given as 134 Montgomery Street. Her death was registered by her son William Boyce of Vernon Cottage, Portobello.

Charles died in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on the 31st of July, the cause was stated as Fibroid Degeneration of the heart. His death was registered by James Burnett, his son. Charles’ usual address was given as 35 Bride St, Edinburgh and his occupation as a Draper's Assistant.
