David was born July 22, 1786 in Sheffield, New Brunswick. He was the son of David Burpee and Elizabeth 'Betsy' Gallishan.[1] The Burpee family was well known in New Brunswick. His ancestor Jonathan Burpee was one of the first English settlers in New Brunswick and a founding father of Sunbury County.
He married Sarah E. Coburn (1795–1874) on October 21, 1813 at Sheffield. She was a daughter of Moses Henry Coburn and Sarah (Barker) Coburn.[2]
He passed away Feb 14, 1830 in Sheffield[1] and is interred at the Sheffield United Church Cemetery.[3]
