Mary Ann Burson King was born on August 8, 1807[1] in Georgia. She was the granddaughter of Isaac Burson, Sr. Further research and documentation needs to be provided to connect her to her parents. It has been said that Joseph Burson was her father, but to date, there has been no proof that this is correct.
On the 1860 Census, Mary Ann Burson King was listed as a 54 year old female living in Carroll County, Georgia with her husband, Benjamin, and children, Martha and Eliza King. Her occupation was listed as "housework." Her birthplace was listed as Georgia, and she could not read or write. [2]
On the 1870 Census, she was listed as a 62 year old, white female living in Bowdon, Carroll County, Georgia. According to the census, she lived alone. Her occupation was listed as "housekeeping," and she was born in Georgia. She could not read or write. [3]
She died on September 6, 1884 in Carroll County, Georgia at the home of her son, Joseph Gordner King. [4] She was buried at Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Carroll County, Georgia.[1]
Mary Burson was listed as the mother of Joseph G. King who died April 6, 1925 in Bowdon, Carroll County, Georgia. The father was listed as Benjamin King and the wife Francis Hays.[5]
