Maria was born in 1878[1] in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. In 1891, James was away for the census but Esther and the children were at home at the Rising Sun public house on Whapload Road.[2]
In 1896 she married William James BREACH.[3][4] In 1901 the family lived at 3 Adrian Road, though William was away for the census.[5] By 1911 they had moved to 1 Sunshine Terrace, Marlborough Road (William was away again).[6]
