James Isaiah Butcher was born about 1873 in Michigan, son of George Butcher (1834-1880) and Pluma Ann Hasetine Hudson. He married Mary Adeline Cassady in Mount Pleasant, in Isabella County, Michigan, on July 2, 1900. Their children included:
Charles Hudson Butcher (1902-1958)
Nardin James Butcher (1904-1974)
They made their home in Detroit, Michigan, where James worked for a manufacturer of boxes and auto parts. James died about 1929 in Fenton, Michigan, and is buried at Oakwood Cemetery there.
