Biography

Mary was born on 29 November 1858 in , St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri,. Note: her parents were born in Ireland.[1][2][3]

When Mary was 21 she married Peter J. Hackethal on 14 September 1880 in , , Madison County, Illinois,. The couple had one child: Joseph John Hackethal.[4]

When Mary was 41 she married on 11 June 1900 in Census 1900. Event: Note: a farm they rented. He was 52, she was 41. They had been married twenty years and were the parents of eight children. "Ellen" was 18; "John" was 16; Charley was 13; Pete was 12; Frank was 9; Mamie was 7; Harry was 4; and Tresa was 2. Father-in-law Henry Butler was 76 and widowed. Event: Note: a farm they rented. She leaves the following children, Mrs. Lillian Marburger, Joseph Hackethal, Charles Hackethal, Peter L. Hackethal, Harry Hackethal, Mrs. W. H. Quilligan, Mrs. Agnes Lancaster, Mrs. Theresa Kasting and Frank T. Hackethal. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hackethal, a pioneer resident of Chouteau Township who died Thursday at her home near Mitchell, will be conducted at the St. Elizabeth's church in Mitchell. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.[6]
