Biography Notes
Gilmore Callison was the son of Joseph Callison, a circuit riding preacher in Kentucky. When Gilmore was old enough, he accompanied his father on his circuit. After coming to Oregon, Gilmore continued circuit riding and preaching. He also planted several churches in Lane County and elsewhere in Oregon.
Gilmore Callison married twice:
when he was 21 years old he married Elizabeth McClure, who died at the end of their Oregon Trail journey in 1852; and
when he was 45 years old, he married in 1852 the widow Eliza Linder, (born Fleenor).
Note: Eliza (Fleenor) Linder had at least three children with John Linder: Robert, Levi, Rebecca.[12] Eliza's son Levi Lindor married Gilmore's daughter Susan Callison, and Eliza's daughter Rebecca Lindor married Gilmore's son William Callison.[13]
