Mary Campbell married George Vineyard on Nov 2, 1790 in Rockbridge County, Virginia.[1]
(Research by Richard Brown 25 June 2003-found on Ancestry.com) George Vineyard married Mary Campbell on 2 Nov 1790. They were married by Rev. Samuel Houston. Samuel Houston was the Founder of the High Bridge Church. He was the nephew of General Samuel Houston of San Jacinto, Texas. Gen. Houston's brother John had sons named William (who owned the High Bridge Plantation) and Rev. Samuel Houston. High Bridge was another name for "Natural" Bridge or "Rock" Bridge, located 2 miles from the Plantation. A description of how Rev. Houston performed marriage ceremonies is given in the Houston Family History Book. Rev. Houston would have the bride and groom meet him halfway up the mountain with families of each following the respected wedding party. He would perform the ceremony in the open air on the mountain of High Bridge (now Natural Bridge). It's very possible that George and Mary were married in this fashion in the same location since Rev. Samuel Houston performed the ceremony. She passed away about 1815.
Mary was born about 1766. Mary Campbell ... [2]
