Biography

Bessie (Cannon) Talbott was born in Appalachia, in North Carolina.

Bessie Amelia Cannon was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on October 4, 1885 to Isaac and Mary Fortune Cannon. She was the third of six children born to the couple.

Bessie was raised on a farm in Mumford's Cove Township, North Carolina. On April 23, 1904, she married David Buchanon in McDowell County, North Carolina. The couple had one child, a daughter, born in May 1905. Her husband David died in August 1905, leaving Bessie a widow with an infant.

Bessie (Cannon) Talbott was an Idahoan.

Bessie married Charles Talbott on November 2, 1916 in Moscow, Idaho. The couple, along with her daughter, initially settled in Juliaetta, Idaho. Bessie and her second husband had two children, both sons. Sometime between 1920 and 1925, the family moved to Potlatch, Idaho.

Bessie died at the State Hospital in Orofino, Idaho on July 8, 1956. She was 70 years old. She is buried alongside her second husband in Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston, Idaho.
