Biography

Minnie Ann Canty was second child and first daughter of Sam (Feb.,1859) and Hanna (Dec., 1863) Canty. She had at least 7 siblings, all of whom, according to the 1900 US Census, were born in Alabama: son William D., born in 1885; daughter Emmer, born in 1888; son Shelby born in 1890; daughter Pinkey born in 1892; daughter Nora, born in 1894; daughter Hattie, born in 1896, and son Neadum, born in 1898. Daughter Clyde was born in 1904.

Minnie married Sellie Blue in December, 1908. Sellie was a farmer and Minnie was a homemaker. They had 6 children, all born in Alabama, according to the 1920 US Census: daughter Florence, born in 1910; son Wiley R., born in 1912; daughter Emma, born in 1914 ; son Sam, born in 1916; son Sandy, born in 1915; and son Vida, born in 1920.

Minnie and Sellie lived next door to 2 of Minnie's siblings according to the 1910 Census report. The men of these families work as farm laborers on a family farm.

Minnie died in 1930.
