Sarah Carroll was born about 1824 in Tennessee, United States, daughter of Solomon Shell Carroll (~1795–>1863) and Frances Sytha Douglas (~1800–1850).
In 1850, Sarah (25) was living in District 37, Hickory with James E Vickers (32), Sarah Vickers (26), Mary F Vickers (9), Nancy F Vickers (6), Elizabeth V Vickers (4), and Jairus H Vickers (2). [1]
In 1860, Sarah (35) was living in Township 37 Range 21, Hickory with Eli Ray (38), Sarah Ray (36), Elizabeth V Ray (14), Nancy F Ray (16), James H Ray (11), Martha M Ray (9), and Franklin Ray (undefined). [2]
In 1870, Sarah (45) was living in District 17, Gibson with her brother, William (3); and Eli Ray (49), Sarah Ray (48), Franklin Ray (12), Ann Ray (9), Eliza Ray (6), Martha Ray (19), and Haney Vickers (22). [3]
