Maple Grove Cemetery is NW of the road junction. Trees SE of the junction may be the grave location of John Carson (father of Red John). Cemetery is ½ mile south of Sylvania P.O., in NE quarter of Section 20 on the 1903 map.
According to Rev. E.M. Smith, Derryvally school was where his mother--Mary Carson--attended school, and the building is located in a churchyard where "many generations of Carsons are buried....".
