Biography
Caleb Carson is a part of US Black heritage.
Caleb (often spelled "Calip") Carson was born in October of 1863, according to his 1900 census record. He was born in Grayson County, Virginia, and his mother was Elvira Carson, as recorded on his marriage registration. In some records, Caleb listed his place of birth as North Carolina.
Caleb [listed as Caleb Parsons on this record; thought probably to be a poor transcription, as mother's name of Elvira Carson is preserved] married Violet Patterson, the daughter of D. Patterson and A. Patterson, in 1882 in Grayson, Virginia, United States.[1][2]
In the 1900 census, Caleph (age 37), Farm Laborer, was recorded as the married head of household in Fort Chiswell District, Wythe, Virginia, United States.[3]
In the 1910 census, Calep (age 61), Laborer, Furnace, was recorded as the married father-in-law of Thomas Taylor in Porters Crossroads, Wythe, Virginia, United States.[4]
In the 1920 census, Calop (age 58), Teamster, Coal Company, was recorded as the married head of household in McDowell, West Virginia, United States.[5]
Caleb's wife, Violet, died on 9 July 1921 in Wythe County, Virginia.
