Biography
Annis Johnson is the wife of Henry Tyler. She was born most likely in Virginia about 1760-1765.
In the early 2000's a Tyler researcher had been told the wife of Henry Tyler was an "Agatha Carter" and he located an "Agatha Carter" born in Amelia County, Virginia. He also disseminated this info via various message boards and in a tree on Ancestry.com. After some time, he found evidence in the Genforum post below that the wife of Henry Tyler was named Annis Johnson.

Will of William Johnson, Sr., made on 2 Oct 1819, witnessed by William Mobley and John Stewart, lists the following children- dau., Malinda Johnson; sons Benjamin, Brice C., David and Thomas Johnson. Daughter, Sarah Johnson. Sister, Annis Tyler (her maintenance as long as she may see proper, to make my present residence her home.) Names wife, Polly O. and executors Nicholas Johnson, William Johnson, John Payne, and William Traylor. Signs with "X". from Jasper Co., GA.

Recently I (John R. Tyler) discovered that the maiden name of (the wife of) Henry Tyler of Oglethorpe Co., GA was Johnson. This is part of the line of President Tyler of VA. The Johnson family also came from VA, and I mistakenly assumed that Annis Johnson was Agatha Johnson of Amelia Co., GA. Annis is a recognized nickname for Agnes or Agatha. This is now widely copied on Ancestry.com."
